When a brewmaster with 45 years experience in the beer industry retires, it’s a pretty big deal.
Rayment & Collins pitched in to celebrate Ed McCallum’s retirement by designing a custom bottle label and 15 bottle pack for one of Ed’s prized formulations, a Bock beer. 500 bottles of Ed’s Bock were served at Ed’s retirement party.
We picked up on the visual pun of including a billy goat on Bock beer packaging — a tradition that began long ago in Germany — all because Bavarians pronounced the Einbeck style of beer as Ein Bock, which is German for Billy Goat.
The bottle labels and carton were custom-designed, printed and hand-assembled at RC. The top of Ed’s Bock carton doubles as a card, with the flap held down with magnets that are hidden within the backer board. At Ed’s retirement party, guests were encouraged to sign the one-of-a-kind pack to send Ed off properly, wishing him “The Best Retirement Ever”.
